William “Hayden” Truitt was never named in court records and deeds of Somerset, Maryland or Worcester, Maryland. The identity of this person is unknown. Does “Hayden” refer to a person long-time into the future? Outlier researchers usually add a “random” middle-name to indidvuals to promote their interpretation. So, this is a lesson about ind ividuals on Family Search . Do we believe what we read because we are empowered by uncritically thinking people, to accept, unsourced genealogies. You may be. FamilySearch wiki for Wicomico, Maryland says “Wicomico County was created 5 October 1867.” Further down the page states Wicomico, Maryland was created August 17, 1867 from Somerset and Worcester Counties.  Well, that is a doozey if you are trying to prove or disprove evidence? Problem Analysis – At the time of his death, 1814, Riley owned land in both Warren and Logan-Simpson counties. It is unclear if Riley’s lands were contiguous and whether the changing boundaries of Warren, Logan and Simpson counties were detrimental to Riley’s lands. His heirs were involved in three lawsuits in Warren county and two lawsuits in Simpson county.    No research is extant for Riley Truitt. Objective – This research works through each court case in Warren and Simpson counties, Kentucky to, as accurately as possible, establish the total acreage and locations of Riley Truitt’s lands.
